Start Cooking is a video recipe site devoted to teaching people who have never took the time to discover their kitchen and its magical aura. Launched in December 2006 by Kathy Maister, host and editorial director of the show, the show clearly explains how to cook the simplest dishes, and provides quick recipes and cooking tips. Kathy Maister majored in home-ec at the University of Massachusetts, and went on to teach it at a public middle school in Boston before starting her own show.
